PGLO

PGLO - Students in Science 8 continued with their Biotech Exploration by making their own GMOs!  They took a plasmid, which is a small piece of DNA that had genes from a jellyfish, some antibiotic resistance, and a promotor that turns the gene on, and inserted the gene set into bacteria.  The protein, or green fluorescent protein glows under UV light.  After growing up the bacteria, they were able to see their transformed bacteria, or in other words, their GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISM!!!
